Technical Questions & Help Videos
I've just received my MyWorks login details. How do I get started?
Our new improved log in page also gives you instant access to both a student and teacher 'Quick Start' guide, as well as a detailed instructional Handbook.
To download them go to https://members.myworks.co.uk/login.php and look for the three blue boxes under 'Downloads'.
You can also watch our set of introductory videos below.
What is Shibboleth?
You can still log in to MyWorks by simply entering your username and password, however we have now enhanced the way in which you can login as MyWorks now integrates with Shibboleth authentication. Shibboleth is a system that BECTA recommended that VLEs use for identity authentication. Your network manager should know whether your access to your VLE or other online systems are authenticated by Shibboleth.
My school uses Shibboleth, how do I use single sign-on?
You will need to add all your users for MyWorks as usual so follow the standard procedures.
The users will then need to link their accounts. From the MyWorks Online log-in screen, click on Login with Shibboleth.
If you are taken to the Shibboleth log-in pages, click on the list of home organizations. Find the organisation that provides your services. For example, this might be your broadband consortium, such as SWGFL Merlin for the Southwest Grid for Learning or embc for East Midlands Broadband Consortium. You will be taken to the log-in page of that service; log in as you usually would. You will then be taken to a screen that asks you to log in with MyWorks and link your accounts. Once this is successfully done, you will be able to log in to your VLE and be logged into MyWorks at the same time.
Where can I get help or technical advice about MyWorks?
You can call Boardworks customer services during normal business hours on 0845 0 300 400 or email enquiries@boardworks.co.uk
Customers also have access to a ‘Help’ page in the MyWorks menu which has more detailed FAQs, advice, instructions, videos and more.
Will changes be made to the site/resources during my subscription?
Yes - we will be updating the site regularly to make improvements based on customer feedback, and to ensure our content is up-to-date and error free. You will not be charged for these updates.
Do I need a very fast internet connection?
We recommend a broadband-speed connection.
What do I need to run MyWorks?
Because MyWorks is web based, there is nothing to install - you just need a web browser.
To log in you simply need the username and password given upon purchase. You also need to make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash player here.
The VLE version of MyWorks requires installation onto your school’s VLE.
For both the VLE and online versions we recommend the following:
Web browser: the most recent version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari
Operating system: Either - Windows 2000 Professional, XP Home/Professional, all Vista versions, all Windows 7 version or Mac OSX
Processor: 1GHz Intel Pentium/Celeron or AMD Athlon/Duron family, or similar
Memory: 512MB RAM, for best results
Display: 32-bit colour capable of 800x600 resolution
Sound card for products with audio
Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32 or later

MyWorks data policy
MyWorks is designed to be used by students and teachers, with students identified by their first and last name (and, if desired, year and class). We also suggest an e-mail is provided as each student’s username, to ensure they are set up as a unique user in the system.
All names and e-mail addresses provided are kept on a secure database and server, and are only accessible to other teachers/administrations at the original administration, and Boardworks employees with the necessary privileges. We also store the marks students’ achieve in the quizzes, and again these are only accessible to other teachers at the same institution.
We never contact students’ directly, except when you or they request a password is reset or they are added to a new subscription. On no occasion will we disclose student information to other parties. Our understanding is that schools are permitted to pass on student names and e-mails to us, on the basis that that they are doing so to further the educational needs of students.
If you wish to use MyWorks without providing student names or e-mail addresses, it is possible to set users up on the system with alternative names, e.g. colours, animals, capital cities or a numeric code. If usernames are not e-mail addresses, it is possible for you to reset the password for all students (and for them then to set their own password to something memorable when they first login).
If you have any further queries about our data policy, please do not hesitate to email us at customer.services@boardworks.co.uk
